So a ton of folks have been asking "what programs do you use? I know theres an FAQ on your front page but I still want to comment!"

First off, art programs are a tool that helps portray your style. They don't magically make you better, but are something to add on to your drawing.

Paint, graphite, pastils, watercolor, cel shading, they're all different to express. So it will vary from different individuals who know how to use the resources efficiently.

But here's a list of the key points to improve faster.

Know your weak points.

Most of us don't like getting critiqued, especially when its something we don't agree on. However, whether it's from someone you don't know, or even yourself, take a moment and figure out the flaws of your drawing.

Is the anatomy too exaggerated? Is there too much lighting? All of these things must be decided on your account.

And getting advise from a friend or family is never a bad idea, but it also helps to look back on older art to see "oh, I definitely had trouble here, here, and here."

In terms of the speed of improvement, it depends on the individual.
Some can be picky enough where they won't submit the art until it's appealing enough and looks finished. But be carful with getting into the habit of perfectionism.

Practice what your good at.

While it's good to try out new things, sometimes practice really does make perfect.

In term, if you find something in your drawings that you and others like. Keep it and try to maintain the element.

Updates vs quality.

Sketches are often a great way to practice expressions, anatomy, and just your style entirely.

However, a lot of people get into the habit of just submitting sketches and half done projects. Why is this?

In short, it's because of a lack of patience to finish the project.

Some may presume that it's due to a lack of interest and that they quickly need to move on to more deviations. But that's what the scrap box is for.

Unless your style just happens to look somewhat sketchy, try to submit finished deviations to help your style.

Don't procrastinate

Yeah, we all do this sometimes. Although, if you really want to get better, it's practicing and following the steps above.

Improvement isn't a last minute thing, but is rather an act of perseverance, with trial and error.

Anyway, I hope that i've helped out a bit, but I just wanted to jot down a few of my thoughts. ^^
